Shipping Containers for Sale in San Antonio, TX

San Antonio is about 321 road miles from the Mariner Containers depot at 153 FM 1564, Greenville, TX 75402, roughly a six-hour run via Dallas and I-35. It is the furthest of the big four Texas metros from our yard, but still a single driver day, and shipping is the same flat $450 per order that applies everywhere else.

Routing into Bexar County and the surrounding region

Carriers come down I-35 through Austin and San Marcos into the north side, then pick up Loop 1604 or I-410 to reach the rest of the city. I-10 carries deliveries east toward Seguin and west toward Boerne and the Hill Country; I-37 runs south toward Pleasanton and the Eagle Ford. Rural Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Wilson and Atascosa county addresses are usually easier drops than city-centre ones, because there is room to manoeuvre and firm ground to set down on.

Deliveries run in the standard 3 to 10 business day window from order confirmation, subject to carrier availability.

What San Antonio buyers use containers for

  • Ranch and agricultural storage across the surrounding counties: feed, tack, tools and equipment kept dry and locked, often a long way from any other building.
  • Construction and trade stores on residential and commercial build sites across the north and north-west growth corridors.
  • Distribution and dry goods storage along the I-35 and I-10 corridors, where a 40 ft high cube is cheaper per square foot than leasing extra warehouse bay.
  • Energy sector equipment storage south toward the Eagle Ford, where a container is often the only secure structure on a lease.
  • Modular cabins as site offices and crew welfare units.

Siting on Hill Country ground

West and north of the city the ground turns to caliche and limestone with a grade on it. That is actually good bearing ground, but it is rarely level. A container must sit level on all four corner castings: if it racks, the door frame twists, the gaskets stop sealing and you get water in a unit that is otherwise sound. Plan for levelling blocks, railroad ties or a small poured pad, and check that the approach gives a tilt-bed the straight, level run it needs before the truck is booked.

Local rules

San Antonio regulates containers through its Unified Development Code, so what is allowed depends on the zoning district and on whether the unit is temporary, such as a store on an active construction site, or permanent. Unincorporated Bexar County and the neighbouring counties are generally more permissive than the city limits, and rural agricultural property is normally the least restricted case. Anything occupied, plumbed or wired is treated as a building and needs a permit wherever it sits. Confirm with the City of San Antonio Development Services Department or your county before ordering.
