Description

New one-trip 40ft open top containers, purpose built as open tops rather than converted from standard containers with the roof cut off. That distinction matters more than it sounds: a factory open top has its frame and header bar designed around the opening, so it stays square when it is loaded from above.

What they are for

Oversize items that will not fit through cargo doors, and goods that are simply easier to load through the top than through the end: steel sections, bagged aggregate, machinery dropped in by crane. Most go for specialized export use, but plenty end up in site storage where crane loading is routine anyway. The removable header bar above the main cargo doors lets long loads slide in at floor level instead when that is easier.
