Refrigerated Storage Containers – Reefers

Description

A refrigerated container, or reefer, is an insulated shipping container with a cooling motor that maintains the internal temperature of the unit. It is used to store and transport temperature-sensitive cargo. Good insulation is what does the quiet work here: it holds what the motor has already achieved, so the compressor runs less than people expect it to.

How they get used

Static cold storage on a hardstand is the most common use we see, whether that is a food producer’s overflow, a caterer’s freezer or a florist’s chill room. Plenty go back into transport as well, since these are ISO shipping containers first and cold rooms second. Internal load bars can be used to double the capacity of pallet storage, which helps when floor area is the limit rather than volume.
